Description
Crafting V 3.0 (2022.10 ~ Current)
As New World underwent a major item update, the crafting mechanic needed to evolve. The number of items in the game increased from around 100 to over 1000, necessitating a new crafting system that could accommodate this vast array of items. Additionally, with hundreds of new recipes added to the game, the existing crafting UI could no longer scale to meet these demands. A more flexible menu design was required to incorporate the many items and recipes.
The game design principle remained the same: using higher tier and rarity items would result in a higher gearscore for the crafted item. However, it was crucial to communicate to the users that some recipes produced a fixed gearscore, while others had gearscores determined by the ingredients used. The introduction of specific perk items that could be added to the crafting process, along with Azoth to increase the likelihood of these perks, also became an integral part of the design.
